what we do

The Mower County Senior Advocacy Program is a program designed to assist those in our county over the age of 59 years.  The goal is enable seniors to live independently by assisting, supporting and providing services to them.  These services include problem solving and contacts with community agencies in achieving these goals.

The Chore Program is for services available for frail persons 60 and over in Mower County who requires assistance with household tasks.  They have workers available for heavy house cleaning, lawn raking, lawn mowing, snow removal, changing storm windows, washing walls, painting, cleaning basements, minor “fix-it” and repair jobs and household tasks.  Nancy Donahue is the Chore Coordinator and she can be reached at 433-8376 to set up an appointment to schedule services.

The Mower County Senior Transportation Program is a program designed to assist those in our county over the age of 60 years of age.  The goal is to enable seniors to live independently by assisting, supporting and providing door to door medical transportation. This service serves the most frail, vulnerable senior citizen’s needs in the area. This service includes picking the client up at their front door and taking them directly to their medical appointment.

a few words about us

The Mower County Senior Center

is a friendly place to come and enjoy a meal or a class and make new friends. We house three important programs at the center to make us a one stop shop for seniors. Our Advocacy program is trained on over 600 senior subjects as well as working on a special state project for seniors with Alzheimers. Our Chore program does housekeeping, lawn mowing, snow removal and odd jobs for the most frail 60 and over. Transportation coordinates volunteer drivers to take seniors in Mower County to medical appointments. The center is a place where those in our community can come for activities of fun and relaxation such as cards, crafts, playing pool, dance and visit.  In addition, there are wellness related activities such as blood pressure screening, tai-chi, SilverSneakers, exercise classes, Zumba and senior dining.
